The Challenge

Located in Okanagan Falls, BC, Unit Electrical Engineering had grown into a premier manufacturer of power, distribution and control equipment, from switchgear and substations to modular e-houses and linear induction motors. But as the business evolved, leadership wanted to sharpen their focus: concentrate on mining, oil and gas and commercial clients in BC and Alberta, emphasize custom solutions and field services, and step back from general engineering and project management. Their existing brand and website no longer reflected who they were, or where they were going. Recruitment was also a growing priority that the old online presence couldn't support.

The Approach

Our strategy and creative team conducted deep industry and audience research to understand the competitive landscape and what drove the people behind high-stakes electrical projects. From that foundation, we refined the company's mission, vision, values and unique value proposition, identifying a new category descriptor ("Custom Power Distribution") and tagline ("Powering Industry") that captured the business's new direction. A name change was recommended to broaden the company's perceived scope beyond its original identity. The resulting brand was clean and modern with a fresh colour palette, anchored by a new logo shaped like a power button, with an embedded arrow communicating solutions and responsiveness. The typeface was simple and purposeful, with a customized letterform that reinforced the brand's distinctiveness.

The Results

With the brand established, the team moved quickly into execution. An upcoming tradeshow accelerated the rollout, with brochures, pop-up displays and branded apparel produced in short order. Subsequent work included a full website redesign, built to reflect the refined business focus and serve as a credible tool for both business development and recruitment. In industries where buyers are making high-stakes decisions about who they trust to get it right, a brand that clearly signals expertise and focus is not a cosmetic upgrade, it is the prerequisite for the conversation. The new identity gave Unit Electric the visual authority and strategic positioning to show up in mining, oil and gas, and commercial markets as the serious, solutions-oriented partner they had become.
